The small things are easier to define, and to understand. These are matters of fact, not of values, and the stakes can get to be high quickly. So it is easy to get passionately lost in them.

The big things are harder, more nuanced. They are are often realized in a series of small things.

A missed wire service fee is easier to talk about than figuring out a way to slightly optimize a sales pipeline.

So when fighting about something small, at least ask yourself: what big thing is this a part of?
