A 2016 rendering of all the new offices going up in SOMA (from Hoodline)

Two offices ago, TriplePoint was at 78 First St – a narrow, poorly lit building thrown up in 1906. I remain strangely fond of it, grateful for the cheap rents at the doldrums of 2009 real estate. Walking by it today the end is clearly near, of the buildings in blue in the picture above.

All of these pictured buildings are exciting developments, but they’re grown up white collar office spaces with Green LEED certification and polished entryways. The hardscrabble feeling, that you were part of a lineage of small entrepreneurs that stretched back to the 19th century, will be gone.
