If Only Favreau had Directed Star Wars 7…

I have only seen one episode of the Mandalorian. I don’t need to see more. Jon Favreau should have directed Episode 7. A brief googling surfacing this was a possibility. From Deadline, in 2012:

I’ve also heard Jon Favreau is panting after this job, and even that David Fincher, who apparently worked for Lucas’s ILM in a menial job as a teen, might be game for one of these new films. Unfortunately, we are getting nothing out of Lucas Land on what they call speculation. I broke a story recently that Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg will write future Star Wars installments, most likely the second and third installments of the new trilogy, I’d heard.

Directors – including Lucas – never learned to differentiate between an Easter Egg and showing the audience making an omelette. At the most obvious level, the Mandalorian understands you just need to evoke the beloved saga, not rehash it as most Star Wars films have done since Empire.

To repurpose a line from elsewhere in his corpus, Favreau is so money.
