“Remember to Save”

The fear of losing work used to be far more pervasive in the world of personal computing. The machine that lost power, a disk that was lost or unreadable, a mistaken delete key…this used to be so much more pervasive. “Remember to Save” was a regular admonition from any experienced computer user.

Now do we need to remember not to save? To better choose what truly to save? Google offers to “clean up” images that it thinks may be clutter but it’s judgement is off. What percentage of pictures am I looking at again, in any meaningful way.

I think this is a major motivation for my (sporadic) blog efforts. To remember what to save, deliberately, publicly.
